CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY WITH US …and your LOVE of THEATER!  Thursday, February 14th, COA Following a special luncheon, actor Stephen Collins will present “BROADWAY OF THE 30s, 40s and 50s!” The influence and reaction to the Great Depression is evident with playwrights who dominated the theater: Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, Eugene O’Neil. In 1954, Nash’s play “The Rainmaker” opened in NYC. The character “Starbuck” charms audiences with his brand of con and hucksterism. Actor and lecturer STEPHEN COLLINS will captivate you in his monologues. He’ll also sing a Cole Porter and George Gershwin tune to round off this special event that has been supported in part by a grant from the Wayland Cultural Council. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED. Please identify the color of the ticket you are requesting: RED TICKET $7.00, 11:45am (includes special Valentine Luncheon with door prizes, table favors and more) WHITE TICKET: No charge. White tickets admitted starting at 12:15 or after.The performance will begin at 12:25pm.The Wayland Cultural Council is a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

HEALTHCARE PROXY DAY – Wed., Feb. 27, by appointment only
Leave Wayland COA with a formal healthcare proxy prepared by an attorney. Metrowest Legal Service Attorney Vera Ochea will meet privately with clients to formalize a document and witness your signature. If interested, complete an intake sheet (available at COA) with the pertinent information by Mon., Feb. 20. A telephone interview with COA Outreach Coordinator Sue Hatton is also an option, if you prefer to have your intake sheet prepared for you. A private, 15 minute appointment on Feb. 27 will complete the process and offer witnesses to verify your signature. Take advantage of this easy and free opportunity.

E-READER WORKSHOP,Thursday, February 28,10am at Wayland COA/ No Charge. Please Pre-Register. Did you receive a new or second-hand e-reader or tablet over the holiday? Did you know that the Minuteman Library Network has over 40,000 electronic titles ( e-books and e-audiobooks) available for lending and you can download these for free to your e-reader, phone or tablet? Learn to configure your wireless device (it’s not exactly one-click, but it is easy!) or configure and authorize your home computer to sync with your old-school e-reader (only a little bit more difficult). We’ll also discuss the upcoming Massachusetts statewide e-book resource sharing service, and lots of other cool, free stuff. COA will host this workshop presented by Matt Amory, Reference Librarian and Computer Specialist at the Wayland Free Public Library.

Depart COA at Noon; Return 5:00 PM, $5.00 for transportation only. Pre-register by 2/8. Those planning to attend must purchase their own opera tickets on-line. Call the COA for further information.
  • Sunday, 2/17 VICKI LAWRENCE and Mama: A Two Woman Show at the Reagle Music Theatre. Depart COA at 1:00; Return at 4:45 $40 for ticket and transportation. Paid registration required by 2/8. Show tickets are Premium “A” seating.
  • Monday, 2/18 Transportation to JFK LIBRARY or BOAT SHOW (Convention Center). Depart COA at 9:00am; Return at 2:00 PM. Transportation cost: $5.00. Participants will purchase their own tickets at museum ($10 seniors) or Boat Show ($15). Registration required. Drop off at library, then at boat show.
  • Tuesday. 2/19 Grocery Shopping at WEGMAN’S in Northboro. (N/C). Pick up at COA at 10 AM. Return at 1:30. Registration required. If a shopper needs transportation to the Town Building to meet the COA van, please tell the office when you call to make your reservation. Otherwise, we will assume that you are boarding the van at the COA.
  • Friday, Feb. 22 A DAY IN BOSTON Depart COA WAITLISTED
  • Wed., 2/27 VOKES THEATER: Servant of Two Masters (Dress Rehearsal). Leave COA parking lot at 7:20pm, doors open at 7:30. Show at 8:00 PM. Open seating. Free, but reservation required for COA transportation – from home or from COA parking lot.
