Wayland Town Crier 1/3/13:  Wayland mourns loss of ‘town icon’ John Turchinetz.  Family, friends and countless admirers are mourning the death of Wayland’s former Veterans Agent John Turchinetz, who died on Dec. 22 after a short illness at the age of 88.  Turchinetz became Wayland’s veterans officer in 1999. Virtually every Wednesday morning after that, until his retirement this past July, he could be found – dressed in a suit and tie – in his little office next door to the town clerk.
