GRANDPARENTS: COFFEE HOUR AND CONVERSATION. What are the joys and challenges of caring for grandchildren and how can we support each other? Are you always looking for new activity and outing ideas? Are there times when your parenting skills differ from your children’s parenting approach? By sharing ideas at this informal discussion, perhaps we can better determine how to support each other. Dr. Dossie Kahn will facilitate this coffee hour discussion.

February. Seniors will be asked to bring a completed information sheet to their private appt with the MWLS attorney held in a conference room. Date to be announced.

Reservations Required. Bring a sandwich. (Appetizer, Beverage and dessert will be provided.) Art Matters will present another extraordinary program using full size gallery prints. Norman Rockwell was one of the most beloved of American artists. This painter illustrated over 322 covers for the Saturday Evening Post for 47 years. Join us to enjoy and discuss Rockwell’s wonderful images and why he is recognized as an icon.

ZUMBA (open to seniors as well as non-seniors)  $3.00/class. Pay only when you attend. Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30am, Town Building GYM.
Instructor: Ellen Cohen-Kaplan. Exercise classes are always free the first day to new participants. This is a cardio-fitness class to energizing Latin music. Learn easy to follow dance steps like the salsa, meringue and cha cha or just move to the beat! Bring water.

TAI CHI FOR STRESS REDUCTION
Every Wednesday, 10:30-11:30am; Certified Instructor: Robin Natanel. Pay by the month ($5/class) or $8/class if not pre-paid.)

LOIS’ FIT FOR THE FUTURE
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 -11am, Hearing Room, $2/class. Stretching, toning, Aerobics fitness and weight work done to music.

BETTER BALANCE:
Independent and Upright Living.” $35 (5 wk session). Fridays, 11:00-12:00, Hearing Room. Next Session STARTS: Jan 11 (1/11,1/18/ 1/25, 2/1, 2/8).  Instructor: Leslie Worris.  Leslie Worris of the Wellness Alliance teaches strategies to avoid and prevent falls. Have fun while learning to improve your balance and increase strength. Using balls, bands, weights and incorporating yoga and tai chi, improve your posture, flexibility, mobility, stability, breath, and enduranceand maintain your independence.  Pre-registration required

  • Tuesday, January 15, 9:15am (back by 11:30am): We continue our trips to local museums with a visit to CHARLES RIVER MUSEUM OF INDUSTRY AND INNOVATION: Get your inventiveness in gear! Meet at the COA parking lot at 9:15. Cost: $5.00 (covers transportation and admission) Pre-Registration Required. (If you need transportation to the Town Building to meet the van, let the COA office know when you make your reservation.)
  • Transportation to Bellingham for: The Metropolitan Opera: Live (Simulcast): Verdi’s RIGOLETTO (New Production).  When: Saturday, February 16.   Where: Regal Cinema in Bellingham.  Depart the COA parking lot at NOON; return by 5:00 PM.  Van reservation required. Cost: $5 for transportation. Participants must purchase their own opera tickets on line: $23.00 for seniors. Director Michael Mayer has placed his new production of Verdi’s towering tragedy in Las Vegas in 1960.
