Gwendolyn the Graceful Pig Dances at the Wayland Library

Enjoy a perfect day of ballet fun for the budding dancers and story lovers in your family on Saturday, December 1st at 3:00 PM when ballerinas from Dancers Workshop take center stage at the Wayland Public Library. Author David Ira Rottenberg reads the second book in the Gwendolyn series, Gwendolyn Goes Hollywood, while the dancers perform the story. As an added treat, a mini-movement lesson will be offered to the children in the audience after the performance and Rottenberg will sign copies of his book.

Picture book author, David Rottenberg, contacted Dancers Workshop’s Artistic Director, Margie Pierce, about offering the event in local libraries and Ms. Pierce was immediately enthusiastic. She says, “We love performing ballets for children and Gwendolyn Goes Hollywood is a delight. The dancers love to perform it and the children who come absolutely love to see it.”

Pierce hopes that the Dancers Workshop will do more performances of Gwendolyn Goes Hollywood, and she looks forward to finding other opportunities for collaboration. “Outreach programs are always special. And in this one the children not only get to see the performance but join in for the little dance session we have after the performance.”

Gwendolyn Goes Hollywood packs plenty of fun and adventure when the world’s two danciest pigs, Gwendolyn and Omar, head to Hollywood to become stars in a musical. Will the movie be a hit? Can the two pigs really dance and sing? Can’t wait to find out?

The event is free. Bring your cameras!
