Preview of Board of Selectmen Meeting for Monday, October 29, 2012

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, October 29, 2012 in Town Building.  The Selectmen will first convene for an executive session at 6:30 p.m.; the public portion of the meeting should begin at approximately 7:15 p.m.

After reviewing the agenda and receiving public comment, Selectmen will meet with Town Moderator Dennis Berry to hear a report on reactions to logistics and procedural matters related to the Special Town Meeting.  He is also expected to appeal to the Selectmen to make an early decision on the dates for the 2013 Annual Town Meeting so civic and community activities can be scheduled around those dates.  Issues related to the scheduling of Annual Town Meeting will be reviewed and four alternative schedules will be discussed.

Next, the Board will hear a report from Mary Antes and members of the 37thth Anniversary Commemoration Committee on the various events and activities now being scheduled to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the town’s founding as East Sudbury in 1638.

At approximately 8:10 p.m., the Board will discuss the revised Danforth Green housing development and the latest mitigation proposal offered by Roy MacDowell of Baystone Development.  The company is seeking a reduction in the mitigation measures and fund requirements to a level commensurate with the reduced impacts of the scaled-back proposed development.

Later, Selectmen will consider the request from Wayland Cares to join it and other groups urging citizens to vote no on initiative ballot question #3 which would authorize the medical use of marijuana.

Following the ballot question, Selectmen will affirm their current mission statement and vote on the draft set of policy goals and priorities for the year ending September 30, 2013.

After considering the consent calendar and reviewing correspondence, Selectmen will then listen to the report of the town administrator, which will include a status report on Town Center opening and compliance with conditions and an update on future meeting agenda items.  During Selectmen's Reports and Concerns, the Board will discuss general items of concern and hear a report on office hours held on October 20.

The meeting begins at 7:15 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room.
