New Studio. New Website, New TV/Video Classes for Adults, and the Same Strong Commitment to Community Service

There’s a lot going on at WayCAM this fall. We’ve finally “gotten the bugs out” at our brand new state-of-the-art studio adjacent to the Field House. We’ve invested over $500,000 of cable subscribers’ dollars to create an energetic Community Media Center that belongs to all the residents of Wayland.

Massachusetts is one of only a handful of states with a vibrant Public Access TV presence. And we’re very proud of our performance again this year: We produced 484 PEG Programs from Sept. 2011 through Aug. 2012, an average of 40 per month: 201 Public programs; 183 Education programs; 100 Government programs. Volunteers and students worked an additional 636 hours to produce and deliver those programs. Video-On-Demand (VOD): Currently archives 500 programs online.

We now broadcast on Comcast channels 8, 9, 99; Verizon channels 37, 38, 39. We broadcast live from the Large Hearing Room, Selectmen’s Room, School Committee Room, Wayland Public Library, and Field House; and starting in 2013 from the Senior Center, Planning Board Room, WHS Commons, Theatre, Video Control Room and Lecture Hall.

In September, we were pleased to hire our first, full-time Production Coordinator, Mark Foreman, a grad of WHS and UMass/Amherst, who is a WayCAM alum as well.

So, what can WayCAM offer you and your family? Fun and Discovery.

Volunteer. Discover a new passion.
There are many ways you can get involved. We’d love to have you and you might discover a new hobby, or talent you never knew you had. Volunteers who do camera shoots  help us increase Government program coverage, and are now eligible for ‘stipends.’

I hope to see you at the Studio one of these days! And you’re also invited to join us at our Annual Meeting of Members, Wed., Nov. 28, 2012 at 4pm. Just contact me, or Executive Director Jim Mullane, at 508-358-5006 (jim@waycam.tv) for more details.
