Hearing to discuss Wayland elementary school buildings

Wayland Town Crier 10/21/12: Hearing to discuss Wayland elementary school buildings. The Elementary Building Use Task Force formed by Superintendent Paul Stein is holding an open hearing to seek public input in the Lecture Hall at Wayland High School, 7:30-9pm on Wednesday, October 24. All Wayland residents are invited to attend and share their views on this important topic.

The task force is a forward-looking effort to consider options in the event that rising school-age populations stretch resources at the elementary school level. Recently, early school-age populations have risen somewhat and, although difficult to forecast, the possibility exists for further increases. The group is tasked with identifying options to best accommodate more elementary school students. It will evaluate those options in terms of a range of important variables, including impact on student learning, families and faculty, the feasibility of implementation, staffing requirements, transportation and costs. Stein will use this work to inform his recommendations to the School Committee.

The task force is comprised of elementary school faculty and staff, school administrators, parents, and residents from the Claypit, Happy Hollow and Loker School communities.
