“Prescription Drug Take Back Day” on September 29

On Saturday, September 29th, 2012 the Wayland Police Department will participate in the “Prescription Drug Take Back Day” sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. A Wayland police officer will be on hand from 10am-2pm to process drugs that are turned in by the public at the Wayland Public Safety Building.

Anyone may anonymously drop off prescription drugs at the Wayland Public Safety Building for proper disposal during the four hour time period established by the Drug Enforcement Agency. Last year, during the four hour period, nearly two hundred members of the public turned in 175 pounds of prescription drugs. These drugs were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposal.

The Wayland Police Department also maintains a prescription drug drop-off box at the Wayland Public Safety Building where residents may drop off unwanted prescription medications at any time.
