College Admissions Talk: The Changing and Challenging Landscape of the College Admissions Process on Tuesday, September 18 at Wayland Public Library

 

The Wayland Public Library will sponsor a discussion on “The Changing and Challenging Landscape of College Admissions” on Tuesday, September 188h at 7:00 PM. Educational Consultant Carol Kinlan from Howland, Spence & McMillan, Boston’s foremost educational planners since 1955, will be making the presentation. The discussion will overview the increasingly competitive and complex nature of the college planning process. Carol will highlight the new rules for college admissions that parents of high school students should know.  She will also discuss specific strategies for assessing a college’s ability to support students with different learning styles and steps for evaluating college internship programs and job placement opportunities.
 
Additionally, the talk will cover the Seven Key Parts of the College Admissions Process and how college admissions weigh qualitative and quantitative factors when assessing an applicant. Finally, the talk will highlight the basic admission roadmap for students seeking athletic recruitment or students interested in pursuing art or theatre programs.
 
Carol works with students who seek the best school or college fit. Her background includes working with families seeking traditional school and college placement, as well as students with learning differences who need specialized school or college guidance. She holds an M.B.A. from Boston University’s School of Management and an M.Ed from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
