Opportunities to Serve on Town Boards and Committees

From Town Administrator Fred Turkington, and posted online here

Citizens interested in serving on a town board or committee should consider the following opportunities for service (these are generally for three-year terms, although some may be filling unexpired terms):

  • Advanced Life Support Committee – One Vacancy
  • Cable Television Advisory Committee – Two Vacancies
  • Economic Development Committee – One Vacancy
  • Finance Committee – One Vacancy
  • Housing Partnership – One Vacancy
  • Wastewater Management District Commission – One Vacancy
  • Wellhead Protection Advisory Committee – Two Vacancies

Our apologies while we update the list of board vacancies posted under Quick Links on the left-hand column of the home page, as that list still contains those positions that have been filled by reappointment of those individuals with terms expiring on June 30, 2012.

The application process is easy. Simply send an email or mail a letter addressed to the Board of Selectmen at selectmen@wayland.ma.us or Town of Wayland, 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778. The letter should include a statement of interest and provide information on your education and experience (professional or volunteer) relevant to the position you seek. Many citizens submit a resume or bulletized summary of this background information with the brief letter of interest. You are encouraged to attend a meeting or to contact the chair of the board or committee in which you are interested. Information on meeting dates and contact information for the chair are generally provided on the committee page on this website.

Typically, the Board interviews candidates as part of a regular Selectmen's meeting at 7:15 p.m. in the Town Building. You will be contacted to schedule an interview. In order to be considered for appointment, you must be a registered voter in the Town of Wayland.

Please submit your letter of interest and background information by July 3, 2012. The Board of Selectmen is expected to interview and begin to consider appointments at Board meetings on Monday, July 9, Wednesday, July 18 and Wednesday, August 1. Thank you in advance for your interest in serving your fellow citizens.
