Preview of June 18 Board of Selectmen Meeting

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, June 18, 2012 in Town Building.  In a departure from the customary schedule, the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Large Hearing Room with a joint session of the School Committee, Finance Committee and Board of Selectmen convened to interview and consider for appointment eight citizens who have submitted letters of interest and resumes to serve on the Audit Committee.  The candidates are Tony Boschetto, Donna Bouchard, Christopher Cullen, Gordon Cliff, Ben Downs, Frank Krasin, Ann Moran, and Chris Riley.

Next, Selectmen will interview Kate Moore, who is seeking appointment to the Finance Committee for a three-year term.  Richard Stack previously announced his decision to not seek reappointment.

After receiving public comment, the Board will review the status of discussions involving residents of Oak Hill and Meadow View Road neighborhoods, NStar officials and town staff and state officials regarding the planned tree removal and vegetation management program in the easement and right-of-way involving electric transmission lines from Framingham, through Wayland and into Sudbury.  Company officials have pledged to negotiate mitigation measures with individual property owners following the completion of the tree removal program and to protect wellheads, safeguard against erosion, and to use approved herbicides next year.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., Selectmen will receive a report from Sam Potter of the Economic Development Committee relative to the housing project under study for town-owned land on Boston Post Road adjacent to the former septage facility and the current transfer station parcel.  He will report on the engagement of consultants for marketing study and preliminary engineering and environmental assessments of the land.  Immediately following this item, the Board will discuss the letter from Belmont officials challenging the process for participating in the school feasibility study phase of a construction project with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

After considering the consent calendar and reviewing correspondence, the Board will then hear the report of the Town Administrator, including updates on summer meeting agenda and FY2012 expenditures, before offering their own reports and concerns.  During this segment, members will consider appointments to the Audit Committee and Finance Committee and finalize arrangements for office hours in June to be hosted by Selectmen Ed Collins and Joe Nolan.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Large Hearing Room.
