This summer let SOAR 55 help you connect with the right volunteer opportunity for you

It’s never too hot to share your skills as a volunteer, so don’t let the summer go by without diving in to one of our very cool service opportunities! SOAR 55 is a volunteer organization for people aged 55 and over who would like to share their professional and experience-based skills with local public and nonprofit organizations who need help. We offer a unique, personalized and thoughtful approach to matching each individual with a rewarding and satisfying volunteer opportunity.  SOAR 55 has over 300 volunteers serving at many sites in assignments that range from tutoring children to leadership roles in organizations to management consulting.

Service opportunities include but are not limited to the following: assist military service members with areas of financial planning including budgeting, investing, improving credit and purchasing homes; assist an art museum’s curatorial staff with exhibition activities; lead the planning and execution of a critical fund-raiser for an organization that provides transportation to older adults and the visually impaired; work one-on-one with pre-release inmates to help prepare them for their high school equivalency exam; create an easy IT system to facilitate the collection and analysis of child assessment and program quality data for an after school program; work with the Marketing & PR Committee of an organization that provides scholarships for camps to children who have suffered the loss of a parent; assist SOAR 55 with data management and entry or develop and design marketing materials and much more!

All assignments offer a chance for volunteers to meet new people, learn new skills, share experience and connect with the community. Many assignments include orientation, training and support, are flexible and require approximately two hours (average) a week.
