Wayland Patch 4/12/12: Medical Emergency Ends Fourth Session of Wayland Town Meeting. The fourth session of Wayland's 2012 Annual Town Meeting ended abruptly Thursday night after a man collapsed on the town meeting floor. Board of Selectmen member Sue Pope was speaking at the podium when Wayland Fire Chief Vinnie Smith rushed to the front row of chairs where a gentleman had collapsed. Several people at town meeting identified the man as Steve Allen.

The fourth session of Wayland Town Meeting, which was slated to conclude Thursday night, instead adjourned when longtime Wayland resident Steve Allen, 85, collapsed in his chair at around 10:30 p.m., in the midst of officials debating Article 27 of 31, authorizing the sale of town-owned land on Lakeshore Drive.
