EMPLOYMENT WORKSHOPS
On four Saturday mornings this spring the library is sponsoring employment workshops with Senior Employment Specialist Gary Gekow to help people kick-start their job searches. The first workshop will be from 10:30-12:30 on Saturday, April 28, and will be a “Resume Writing Review.” On that date Gary will discuss resume writing in general, via a round table group format. Participants are encouraged to bring their existing resume for confidential one-on-one analysis as time permits. Subsequent workshops held on May 5, 12, and 26 will address cover and thank-you letters, interviewing, and salary and benefits negotiation.

RECONNECTING THROUGH THE VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
On Tuesday, April 17, 7:00-9:00 p.m., SOAR 55 will present a program for adults 55 and over. The presentation provides attendees with the opportunity to learn about the rewards and benefits of volunteering, including the opportunity to meet new people, discover a passion, and work around their schedule. They will also learn how they can use their interests, skills, and talent to find a meaningful assignment. SOAR 55 assists people in their path to volunteering through a personalized, professional and thoughtful process. A panel of three SOAR 55 volunteers will share the interesting things they are doing in the community and includes a question and answer session. We will also discuss some of the 100 opportunities available. Location: Raytheon Room, Wayland Library. For more information, contact Karen Albert at 617-969-5906, ext. 3 kalbert@ncscweb.org.

STORYTIMES
We now have two weekly storytimes. “Storyvine,” on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m., introduces preschoolers (ages 2.5 to 5 years) to books and reading with engaging stories, songs, and activities. “Mother Goose Time,” on most Thursday mornings at 10:30, will be a program for babies and toddlers–filled with songs, rhymes, stories, and movement. All of our storytimes encourage language development, socialization, and fun. We ask that parents and care givers participate in the storytime activities with their children. For more information, contact the Youth Services Department at 508-358-2308.

EXHIBITS
During April, the Raytheon Room contains paintings by artist Jeremy Harrison that were inspired by his transarctic canoe journey. The foyer contains photographs and paintings by Murray and Trudy Drobnis.
