Wayland man has heard it all

Wayland Town Crier 3/24/12: Wayland man has heard it all. From his vantage point just inside the Wayland Public Safety Building, retired fire and police dispatcher Tom Turner has heard just about everything in town — floods, fires, fatal car accidents, homicides, abductions, missing persons and a broccoli blockage. Turner became a call firefighter in Wayland in 1965. He was only recently out of Emerson College, where he had studied broadcasting. But jobs in the media at that time were hard to come by. So with his house located just around the corner from the Fire Department headquarters, he reasoned he could be at the station in a matter of minutes.
