Wayland Patch 2/28/12: Ceremony Recognizes New Positions for Firefighters. Wayland officially recognized new fire chief Vincent Smith during a swearing in ceremony at the Board of Selectmen's meeting Monday night. The departure of now-retired fire chief Bob Loomer and the internal promotion of Smith created a domino effect within the department that led to the promotion of an additional three firefighters and allowed for the hiring of one new paramedic.
