Wayland Football Cheerleaders are Dual County League Champions

The 2011 Wayland High School Cheerleading Team won the Dual County League Small Cheerleading Competition on Wednesday, November 2nd at Concord-Carlisle High School.  The girls started their routine with high spirits and practiced perfection. Thirty seconds into their routine junior Kiki George went down with a torn ACL and miniscus.  She was carried off the floor and the team went back to the practice gym, shaken and upset.  Coach Meghan Connor quickly adjusted the program and along with captains Keely Griffin, Ashley McGuire and Julia Vinha, encouraged the girls to go back on the floor for a second try.  The team chose not to drop out of the competition, but instead, made changes to their routine and delivered a high energy performance that secured the DCL title.  Keely Griffin was named DCL All-Star that night as well.  The Cheerleading Team will compete again in Regionals on Sunday, November 13th.
