Promoting understanding at open house at Islamic Center

Wayland Town Crier 10/30/11: Promoting understanding at open house at Islamic Center. With a steady stream of people walking throughout the day, the Islamic Center of Boston in Wayland opened its doors on a recent Saturday for an open house aimed to clear misconceptions about Islam. Community outreach has always been an integral aspect of the Islamic Center, since its founding in 1979. Following last year’s format, the open house offered guided tours, educational lectures, refreshments and handouts. This year’s educational sessions focused on pluralism in America, “Islam 101” and Islamic architecture in the U.S. Many of the mosque’s members were in attendance to talk with visitors and answer any questions.
