Now Available for Preschoolers – Drama Kids International

A new drama class for preschool age children debuts at the Loker School on Friday, November 4, 2011. Offered through Wayland School Community Programs, the six-class program is brought to Wayland by Drama Kids International (DKI). The innovative program founded in 1999 has been bringing successful drama classes to Wayland since 2009, both during the summer and the school year. This new class represents an expansion of programming offered in Wayland to include younger children, ages three and four.  Activities are designed to be fun and fast-paced, while building important skills that enhance  poise and self-confidence.

The program emphasizes having fun while building a child's expressive skills and speaking and listening abilities. Through creative movement, activities tap into the natural ability of  preschool-age children to explore and imagine. In Wayland, DKI classes are currently being offered to K-5 students.  According to DKI, the preschool curriculum offers a "great introductory drama experience that allows children to develop speaking skills and creative expression. New drama activities and scenes each class allow children to gain confidence while having loads of fun."   DKI describes its specialty as "using a wide range of unique drama activities to focus the bold, outspoken child and to draw out the quiet child or the inarticulate child and help him or her reach into themselves to discover their full potential."   The classes are on Fridays from 1:30 – 2:15pm. Dates are November 4- December 16, and the fee for the six classes is $85. There are no classes on the two November holidays, November 11 and 25.
