October is Massachusetts Archaeology Month. Rail Tales: History and Archaeology of the Wayland Center Railroad Complex

The Wayland Historical Commission hosts its annual archaeology event, October 29. at 2pm in the Wayland Town Building Large Hearing Room. Admission is free and light refreshments will be available.

Suzanne Cherau, Senior Archeologist at the Public Archaeology Laboratory, Inc. will discuss the archeological remains of Wayland Center's 19th century railroad steam locomotive servicing facility found in 2000, including the more recently exposed turntable pit. Hear about the renewed interest in the site as an interpretive archeological park in conjunction with a future rail-trail.
