Wayland’s ‘Loose Change’ campaign achieves goal in Peru

Wayland Town Crier 9/18/11: Wayland’s ‘Loose Change’ campaign achieves goal in Peru. The “Loose Change” campaign, held in Wayland in February of 2011, has achieved its goal of building a schoolroom in the remote Andean village of Atuen, Peru.
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, we raised an astonishing total of $15,000 in one week, which provides funds not only for the construction but also for equipment and supplies. Led by Wayland Middle School teacher Daniel Fernandez-Davila, a group of 10 students and three parents set off for Peru in June 2011. After five days of grueling travelling we set off on the final hike to the village.
