Committee continues to work on electronic voting at town meeting

Wayland Town Crier 9/15/11: Committee continues to work on electronic voting at town meeting. Wayland is coming closer to adopting electronic voting for future town meetings with the recent formation of a new ELVIS (Electronic Voting Implementation Subcommittee) group. The first ELVIS group introduced electronic voting at last spring’s annual Town Meeting on a trial basis to high approval. The new group has been formed to further the implementation of the system at upcoming annual and special town meetings. It will have two major areas of responsibility. The first is to find a provider by identifying potential bidders and soliciting proposals, interviewing the bidders, and providing a recommendation to Town Administrator Fred Turkington and the Board of Selectmen. The second is to oversee the implementation and deployment of electronic voting at Town Meeting in April 2012.
