Wayland Town Crier 9/14/11: Learn about history of East Sudbury before it became Wayland. On Sunday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. in Sudbury Town Hall, the Sudbury Historical Society will continue its annual “Ancestor Day” program by honoring the Noyes family as one of the original settlers of Sudbury in 1638. (Sudbury was incorporated in 1639.) The family of Robert (“Bob”) Noyes, former longtime Sudbury highway commissioner (before it was renamed the DPW) will be present to discuss some of the high points of the history of the Noyes family. Wayland residents may be interested to learn about the history of East Sudbury, which did not become known as the town of Wayland until 1835.
