BBQ and a Side of Music at Natick’s Stop & Shop

Get a taste of live music and hot barbecue when the Golden Tones chorus kicks off its 24th season with a free concert on Saturday, September 3rd, at 12:30 pm outside the Natick Stop & Shop supermarket, located at the corner of Routes 9 and 27. Music will include Golden Tones favorites, summertime tunes, and songs by George and Ira Gershwin.

Enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and beverages at reasonable prices from 11:30 am to 4 pm. All proceeds from the barbecue will benefit the Golden Tones’ musical outreach to underserved audiences in the community, thanks to the generosity of Natick Stop & Shop.

Love music? Retired or semi-retired? The Golden Tones chorus, an independent non-profit organization, announces the start of its 24th season, welcoming new members from all over MetroWest who are in their retirement years.

There are NO AUDITIONS; the only requirement is a love of making good music! All voices improve the sound of the chorus, you don’t have to read sheet music to participate, and we also welcome members who prefer to assist with the program “backstage.” Come enjoy the opportunity to bring joyful music into the community and the company of like-minded music-lovers.

Our season will begin with an open rehearsal at the Wayland Senior Center on Tuesday, August 30th, from 10:15 a.m. to noon. A welcome reception will be hosted by the Wayland Council on Aging at 9:30 a.m. We rehearse on most Tuesday mornings and perform on weekday (usually Friday) afternoons. There is no attendance requirement to belong.

The Golden Tones chorus practices and provides enriching entertainment for senior citizen facilities, schools, faith communities and public events. Our members are men and women of retirement age who sing and dance to lift spirits, have fun, and promote health and social engagement to benefit our audiences and ourselves. The chorus was recently recognized as a Best Practice in the Creativity and Aging study sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts.
