Rep. Conroy Calls Moody’s Negative Outlook ‘Unreasonable’.

Wayland Patch 8/9/11: Rep. Conroy Calls Moody's Negative Outlook 'Unreasonable'. The Boston Globe today reported that Moody's Investors Service had assigned a "negative outlook" to multiple Massachusetts local governments, including Wayland, and two local school districts, including Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School District. The communities will, for now, maintain their Aaa credit ratings, the Globe reports, but will be closely watched by Moody's for signs they should be downgraded.

State Rep. Tom Conroy (D-Wayland), a candidate for U.S. Senate, today responded to the news of the negative outlook assignment for both Wayland and the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School District, both of which he represents on Beacon Hill.

“I have known the Town of Wayland and the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional School District to practice responsible, prudent and forward-thinking financial management,” Conroy said in a press release. “While I understand the technical reasons behind Moody’s decision, it is unreasonable to penalize municipal governments for the shortcomings of the parent organization, in this case, the United States government.”
