Wayland chief: Minivan was dumped, torched

Wayland Town Crier 7/25/11: Wayland chief: Minivan was dumped, torched. Police said they are investigating a minvan found burning on Sherman Bridge Road on Sunday as arson.

Police Chief Robert Irving said arson investigators said it appears someone dumped the minivan and intentionally set it on fire. “The vehicle was badly burnt and it was unclear exactly where the fire started on the vehicle,” Irving said.

The minivan was registered to a Hudson resident. That resident reported the minivan stolen later on Sunday in Framingham, the chief said. Wintesses called 911 to report the fire at 12:07 a.m., Irving said.

When police and fire arrived, it was fully engulfed in flames, and firefighters from both Wayland and Sudbury worked together to put the fire out. No one was injured, and there are no suspects, the chief said.
