Wayland Town Crier 7/24/11: Two Wayland High grads earn National Merit Scholarships. More than 1,700 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities have been announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. These Merit Scholar designees join over 2,900 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in late May. Wayland High School graduate Basil Halperin will be receiving a scholarship from the University of Chicago. He is interested in studying government service. Wayland High School graduate Daniel Hong will be receiving a scholarship from Washington University in St. Louis. He is interested in studying medicine.
