Looking for some fun, educational, and FREE summer activities for your children? Come to Cochituate State Park Tuesday-Saturday for fun family programs. Most programming is at the Nature Center, which is to the right as you enter the park. The Nature Center is open Tuesday afternoons for a variety of activities of your choosing. Participate with the group or check out a discovery pack to take to your picnic table. Crafts and Story time happens on Wednesdays at 10:00 with a different theme each week. Water Comes to Boston is a historical program about Lake Cochituate that happens at the beach on Wednesdays at 2:00. Two programs happen on Thursdays with new themes each week. The Kidleidoscope program is at 10:00 for ages 3-6 and Junior Rangers is at 2:00 for ages 7-11. These are meant to be a series but are open to drop-ins as well. On Fridays, recreation and sports equipment are available for group activities in the field by the Nature Center at 10:00. In the afternoon, there is a beach exploration at 2:00. Come Saturdays at 10:00 for a guided paddle around Lake Cochituate. Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one from Charles River Canoe and Kayak located inside the park. There is a 20% discount for rentals if you come on the guided tour. These programs are free and sponsored by the Department of Conservation and Recreation. There is a $5 parking fee at the park.
