WCVB Boston 7/13/11: Teens Counsel Peers On Dating Abuse. The murder of 18-year-old Lauren Astley of Wayland allegedly at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, has brought teen dating violence in sharp focus. But at At Melrose High school the focus has been there for 11 years. A program there trains teens to teach other teens about the warning signs of an abusive relationship.
Every year a group of students at Melrose High school are trained by the Melrose Alliance Against Violence about the tell- tale signs of an unhealthy relationship. They share that knowledge in classrooms and assemblies. Sometimes they intervene.
