Black Bear Sightings Reported in Wayland and Nearby Towns

Wayland Patch 5/31/11: Black Bear Sightings Reported in Wayland and Nearby Towns. A caller from Glen Road in Wayland reported seeing a bear in his backyard Monday at 5:47 a.m. While Wayland Police could not locate the animal, this sighting was one of several reported in the area over the holiday weekend.

The chief of police in Weston sent out an emergency call and email on Monday regarding some sightings of black bears in the area.

Several reports, including one from WBZ, have since come in that a black bear was spotted Tuesday morning on Ridgeway Road, by the Massachusetts Turnpike. A report from a Sudbury resident said that a black bear cub was spotted in Sudbury on Sunday on Old Lancaster Road, Pennymeadow Road and Hudson Road.

According to Acton Patch, the Boxborough Police department also received several reports of bear sightings on Friday, May 27. The photo is from Acton Patch.
