Wayland Patch 5/27/11: Wayland DPW Announces Closure of Hannah Williams Playground. DPW Director Don Oullette decided to close Hannah Williams Playground following a report conducted by an independent contractor that confirmed Oullette's fears about the park's potential safety issues. "The playground is not up to today’s standards," said Diane Gorham in the DPW office. Oullette was unavailable for comment Friday afternoon. "It’s more about potential dangers and safety issues, and things are wearing out.”
DPW Press Release 5/27/11:
Due to structural safety hazards the playscape at Hannah Williams Playground has been closed as of May 27, 2011. Funds have been appropriated to build a new playscape and to improve the playground. Plans for the design of the new playground are available in the DPW office at the Wayland Town Building. The replacement playscape is projected to be built and open for play by the end of the summer or early fall 2011.
