Metrowest Daily News 4/23/11: Viva Mexican Grill in Wayland caught serving alcohol to 19-year-olds. The owner of Viva Mexican Grill on East Plain Street said he was "devastated" to learn his establishment failed a police alcohol compliance check this week, the only one of a dozen establishments in town with liquor licenses to be caught. Two 19-year-olds were sent into stores and restaurants Tuesday with instructions to purchase alcohol without showing any identification, police said. A bartender at Viva Mexican Grill sold alcohol to them. Chief Robert Irving said police do the alcohol and tobacco compliance checks at least twice a year. "Our goal is not to try to trick them," Irving said. "We would like to see every establishment pass every time."
