Weston-Wayland Relay for Life’s Mini-Relay on Saturday, April 2, 6-9:30pm

Looking for a fun way to support a great cause? On Saturday, April 2, 6-9:30pm, the Weston-Wayland Relay for Life Committee will be hosting a “Mini-Relay” for elementary schoolchildren at Weston High School.
Relay for Life is an American Cancer Society-sponsored event in which teams of participants walk around a track throughout the night to raise money for the fight against cancer. This year’s Relay for Life is taking place on April 30 at Weston High School, but the committee is trying to organize additional events not only to raise money but also to get more people involved.

“We are really trying to incorporate the community this year,” said Weston High School senior and committee chair Julia Gilberto. “It was great to see young children at the event last year and our goal is to have even more come this year. Since cancer is something that affects everyone, it is nice to see the entire community involved in helping this terrible disease come to an end.”

The “Mini-Relay” on April 2 will include a showing of the recent Disney movie “Tangled” in the High School’s auditorium and the opportunity to play games in the gym, such as bowling, volleyball, basketball, hula hooping and more.
Tickets are $7 per person, and snacks and T-shirts will be sold as well. Brochures and booths with information about the April 30 Relay for Life event and the American Cancer Society will also be available. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

If there are any questions about the event on April 2, or the Weston-Wayland Relay for Life, please contact Julia Gilberto.
