Wayland Town Crier 1/6/11: Important notice from the Wayland Board of Assessors. Residents recently received a fiscal 2011 third quarter tax bill containing the property’s new assessed value. Each year the assessed value is based on the property’s valuation as of Jan. 1 of the current calendar year, utilizing the sales of the prior 12 months.

Simplified, the new 2011 assessed value was determined using the sales that occurred in Wayland from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2009, establishing a value as of Jan. 1, 2010.

The factors that help determine each property’s value are the numerous attributes found on your Property Record Card (PRC) such as living area, bathroom counts, condition, etc. It is important that this information be as accurate as possible. If you believe there may be some inaccuracies on your PRC, please contact the Board of Assessors office at Town Building so we can work together to reflect the correct information.
