Wayland Path 1/3/11: Wayland’s Youth Officer Retires. Officer James Forti has retired after 28 years of service, most of which were spent serving as Wayland's youth officer. "I'm honored that the people of Wayland have allowed me to guide their kids for the past 16 years," Forti said, taking a quick break from cleaning out his office. "It's been a pleasure and an honor to serve the department." Forti began his law enforcement career in 1983 as an intermittent officer with Wayland PD. He became a full-time patrolman in 1986, where he remained until assuming his role as youth officer in 1994.
