ART MAKES US HUMAN Luncheon and Lecture with Dynamic Speaker, Wednesday, Jan 19, Noon, $6.  .Humans are the only living creatures that make art. Join us for this fascinating and most enjoyable  mini history of western civilization from the caves to the shuttle. See how art and civilization depend upon each other. “ART OF THE AMERICAS” AT THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS – Thursday, January 27 – $40. Join us on a guided tour to see the new wing of the Museum! “Art of the Americas” showcases more than 5,000 works of art produced in North, Central and South America over the course of three millennia. Art in all media is arranged chronologically on four floors. Trip includes transportation, admission, and a guided tour of the new wing. Lunch on your own. We‟ve made arrangements to accommodate more people!  Call to sign up and to get details on departure/arrival times.

BOSTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA OPEN REHEARSALS – Bus transportation for the remainder of the 2010/2011 Season. There are three evening rehearsals remaining: Feb. 23, Apr. 6, and May 4;  Transportation for the remaining rehearsals is $60. For those attending the two remaining morning rehearsals ( Jan. 13 and March 10), cost for  transportation to the morning session is $40. Thursday, January 20: Around Town Van Trip.  Go to local stores, CVS, the library, etc. Pick ups start at 9:00; return home by 1:00.

College Professor and Author to offer POETRY COURSE. Explore the works of EDNA  ST. VINCENT MILLAY and WALLACE STEVENS, Mondays, Mar. 7, 14, 21, 28 and Apr. 4.  $50 (5 week session; 1:30-3:00pm, 90-minute classes).  Dr. Eugene Narrett, author and visiting professor at several Boston area universities, returns to Wayland to offer another one of his popular courses. Course Currriculum: Edna St. Vincent Millay lived a passionate and celebrated life in Manhattan. Her sonnets are beautifully accomplished and pow-erful adventures in passion and thought. Students will examine 6-8 poems. The class will then examine 3-4 poems by Wallace Stevens.  Stevens' poetry offers a glimpse at the power of the metaphor and how to see and experience life as purely and vividly as possible.  Pre-registration is required. We anticipate full enrollment in this Series, so please sign up early.

TAI CHI for Stress Reduction, Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30am, Certified Instructor: Robin Natanel.  4 sessions in January $20 (or $8.00/class if not pre-registered.)   Learn to use the Tai Chi form to increase your physical balance and "sense" of balance. Tai Chi allows you to physically, mentally and emo-tionally feel YOUR flow aligning with the flow of nature. The class begins with music and meditation, some Qi Qong breathing techniques, temple exercises for flexible joints and strength, then the Tai Chi form itself. Class adapts to the participant‟s individual needs. Tai Chi can lower blood pressure, improve balance, reduce pain and effective for stress reduction. Tai Chi is open to non-seniors*

BETTER BALANCE “Independent and Upright Living”.  Next session held on the following dates: January 7, 14, 21, 28 – $25/4 wks. All classes are on Fridays, 10:30-11:30am in the Hearing Room.  Leslie Worris of the Wellness Alliance teaches strategies to avoid and prevent falls. Have fun while learning to improve your balance and increase strength.
