Transfer Station Pilot Program Suspended for Saturday, December 18

Sudbury and Wayland officials have decided to not repeat the trial combination of the two town's transfer stations planned for Saturday, December 18, and instead each town's transfer station will be open for regular hours.   Transfer station staff found that the demand on the Wayland transfer station during peak hours on Saturday, December 11 caused delays of up to 15 minutes for users, and at times there were traffic problems at the entrance on Route 20.  The traffic counts and other information gained from last Saturday's trial will be studied over the next few weeks to determine what kinds of changes can be made to reduce these undesirable outcomes. We likely will be holding a second trial in January on a Saturday to be determined after we have determined what improvements might be warranted.

The patience of transfer station permit holders as our staff works to reduce costs and improve operations is greatly appreciated.
