Two local businesses fail tobacco compliance checks

On Tuesday, November 30th, the Wayland Police Department conducted tobacco compliance checks of local businesses that sell cigarettes.   A seventeen-year-old youth was sent into the establishments with instructions to attempt to purchase tobacco without showing any identification.

Two of the fourteen establishments checked, sold cigarettes to the juvenile. Those that failed the compliance check were: Rite Aid Pharmacy, 35 Main Street, and C.V.S. Pharmacy, 325 Boston Post Road.   These businesses will be referred to the Wayland Board of Health for enforcement action.

The Wayland Police Department regularly conducts compliance checks at local businesses in an effort to reduce the underage consumption of alcohol or tobacco products.
