Sunday, December 5, Holiday Open House, Grout-Heard House, 2-5pm

The Wayland Historical Society will host its traditional Holiday Open House on Sunday, Dec. 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Grout-Heard House Museum. Event co-chairmen are Aida Gennis and Molly Adams, assisted by Deborah Stubeda. Festive holiday arrangements will decorate each of the period rooms throughout the Grout-Heard House. Jane Daley and Leslie Karpp will head up a small army of Wayland Garden Club members, decorating each room.  Girl Scout troops from all over town will be making decorations for the alcove. Their handmade ornaments will reflect this year’s theme, "Go Green," with each troop choosing a different focus to illustrate. Kathleen Rader is in charge of alcove arrangements.

Early in the afternoon, a Wayland High School string trio will provide musical entertainment. The young musicians will be Jasmine Masand, Nichole Bell and June Kim. Later, the Madrigal singers will also perform.   Home-baked holiday cookies, tea and punch are planned. The event is free and open to the public.

The Holiday Open House is part of the annual Wayland Center community celebration. The Depot will offer refreshments and an array of handmade holiday gifts for sale from 2 to 5 p.m. The Wayland Library will host balloon sculpting from 2:30-4:30pm.  At 4pm, Christmas caroling is planned on the First Parish Church steps with cocoa served in the vestry at 4:30pm by the church’s seventh graders.
