Wayland field plan may prove too costly

Wayland Town Crier 10/19/10: Wayland field plan may prove too costly. The town needs eight new playing fields and diamonds and improvements to existing fields to meet a growing demand from athletes of all ages, according to a study unveiled last night.

A master plan details the condition, deficiencies and use of 23 town fields and outlines a phased approach to upgrade existing ones and bring new playing surfaces on line over the next six years.

Weymouth-based Gale Associates recommended building three new diamonds at the Loker Recreation Area on Rte. 30 at an estimated cost of $975,000 in the first phase of a field expansion project.
