Boston Globe 9/30/10: Wayland deli in film. "Girlfriend", the local movie that was a hit at the Toronto International Film Festival, has been snatched up by the distribution company Hannover House, which plans a theatrical release by the end of the year. Director Justin Lerner shot the movie around his hometown of Wayland last year. It stars Evan Sneider as a man with Down syndrome who pursues his childhood crush, played by Shannon Woodward of the new Fox comedy "Raising Hope". Costars include Amanda Plummer and "Twilight" actor Jackson Rathbone. Wayland-ites will notice when the film comes out that it features Caraway’s Deli, a favorite town haunt that closed this year.
