Alert driver helps firefighters limit damage to Wayland building

Boston Globe 9/19/10: Alert driver helps firefighters limit damage to Wayland building. Quick thinking and a bit of luck helped firefighters from the western suburbs save a 100-year-old Wayland building. At about 1:15am, a motorist came to a stop at a red light on Boston Post Road, then glanced right and saw smoke rising from a nearby building. Firefighters responded, but the blaze had already grown quite large and had been burning for some time because the building had no working smoke detectors, fire alarms, or sprinklers.
