Moderator makes appointments to Town Meeting Subcommittees

Moderator Peter Gossels has made appointments to two Town Meeting Subcommittees, the Town Meeting Facilities Subcommittee and the Town Meeting Procedures Subcommittee:

Town Meeting Facliities Subcommittee

Moderator Peter Gossels is pleased to announce that he has appointed Louise Brown, Don Bustin, Lana Carlsson Irwin, Alessandra Kingsford, Phil Langsdorf, Margaret Patton and Matthew Shear to serve as members of the Town Meeting Facilities Subcommittee and that Matthew Shear has agreed to serve as Chair of that subcommittee.

The subcommittee will consider how to make Wayland’s town meeting venues more convenient and comfortable for those who attend, whether in the High School’s Field House or in the auditorium at the Middle School.  The subcommittee will study the wisdom of investing in better seating, lighting, audio and video equipment, among other things.  The subcommittee will also find ways to arrange and finance the provision of babysitting services, food and beverages, and other amenities to encourage voters to attend town meeting by making those meetings more comfortable and user-friendly.

Residents of the Town of Wayland, who may wish to contribute to the work of the committee, are invited to send their thoughts and recommendations to Mr. Shear at 98 Woodridge Road or by e-mail at mmfs@comcast.net.

Town Meeting Procedures Subcommittee

Moderator Gossels is pleased to announce that he has appointed Mary Antes, David Bernstein, Dennis J. Berry, Donna Bouchard, Steven Correia, Miranda Jones, Anette Lewis, Betty Salzberg and William Steinberg to serve as members of the Town Meeting Procedures Subcommittee and that Dennis J. Berry has agreed to serve as Chair of that subcommittee.

The subcommittee will monitor how Wayland town meetings are doing, study and consider the issues identified in the Final Report of the 2010 Town Meeting Procedures Review Committee, and address other issues that may be brought to the attention of the subcommittee from time to time.
