Writer finds graveyards of New England uniquely aged, anchored in American history

TribStar.com 7/10/10: Writer finds graveyards of New England uniquely aged, anchored in American history. Discreet and isolated in the woods off Highway 30, Lakeview Cemetery is not a tourist attraction at all. Unlike our other stops, we came there to find the grave of just one man: Harold Russell. Russell, who died just a few days after his 88th birthday in 2002, was a difficult man to locate. Lakeview is a moderately sized cemetery, but there were no walking tours or maps or directions. In fact, we were alone in the graveyard that afternoon, cruising its winding roads in our family wagon under the shade trees, searching for his last name to pop up on a tombstone.
