First Hand Projects is enrolling students for Summer 2010

First Hand Projects, a nonprofit based in Sudbury, gives young people the chance to design and build sustainable buildings for their community. Led by a licensed architect and several graduate students, participants receive a hands-on introduction to design and community service.  As part of the program, teens also attend field trips to significant works of architecture and top design firms in the Boston area.  First Hand Projects is currently enrolling students, ages 14 to 18, for the summer 2010 program (sessions start July 6 and July 26). Learn more about the program at an information session on Saturday, June 19 from 3-4pm at 196 Lincoln Road, Sudbury.  Codman Community Farms will be the recipient of this year’s project. In July and August, 40 young people will design and build a new Mobile Sugar House and Multi-Purpose Education Building.  If you know a young person who might enjoy this program, attend this introduction or visit www.firsthandprojects.org, where you will find a full description and see images from the most recent project, a sustainable building for the Lincoln Meadows Community Gardeners in Sudbury.
