Wayland and Weston earn national honors for music programs

Wayland Town Crier 5/25/10: Wayland and Weston earn national honors for music programs. While often rivals in sports, the towns of Wayland and Weston have proven themselves to be equals in music. In its annual survey of Best Communities for Music Education in America, the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) included the two towns in its 2010 list. Susan Memoli, director of fine arts for the Wayland Public Schools, was contacted the day the results were released in early May. Pleasantly surprised, she said, "The programs are in good standing, and here fine arts education begins in elementary school which speaks volumes about this community." The complete NAMM list of 174 communities named nationwide (including 5 Massachusetts towns) is available here.
