New Non-Profit “Neighbor Brigade” Sets Neighbors Up To Help Other Neighbors

WBZ TV.com 5/7/10: New Non-Profit "Neighbor Brigade" Sets Neighbors Up To Help Other Neighbors. If illness or accident sends a Wayland family into crisis, Pam Washek has hundreds of volunteers at her fingertips. She's run a home grown effort called Wayland Angels that's becoming a new non-profit called Neighbor Brigade. Its roots are in her and her friend's simultaneous battles with cancer eight years ago. A brigade of neighbors and friends started meal chains to help. "It was meals; it was getting my girls to soccer, they were in Girl Scouts at that time. My friends just pulled together and took over," she said. Once the crisis passed, Washek and her friend vowed to keep that safety net intact.
