Wayland School Community Programs Announces New Summer Academic Program

The Pegasus Academy, Math and Language Arts Enrichment is for entering Grades 2 and 3 (Tuesdays) and entering Grades 4 and 5 (Thursdays), from 1-3pm this summer at Pegasus.  Pegasus this summer will be run at Claypit Hill School.  The two hour class will part of the 1-3pm afternoon options at the enrichment program.  It will be a hands-on, activity-rich class offered once a week for a total of three classes (six hours of instruction) during each Pegasus session.

The programs will be taught by Ms. Wales, an experienced elementary school teacher.  Ms. Wales taught in Weston for nine years, and is a long-term substitute at Claypit.  “The curriculum is being designed to support the academic program taught in Wayland’s elementary schools,” explained Wayland School Community Programs Director Brian Jones. Classes begin June 29; Enrollment in Pegasus is not a requirement.  Math is being offered during Session 1 and Language Arts during Session 2.

The $100 fee per session covers the cost of the six classes for a total of 6 hours of instruction. Children attending for both sessions – Math and Language Arts – will pay $200 for 12 hours of instruction.

The Tuesday classes for math, Grades 2 and 3, are June 29, July 6 and 13. Language Arts classes are also on Tuesdays. Dates are: July 20, 27, and August 3.  Grades 3 and 4 classes are on Thursdays as follows:  Math, July 1, 8, and 15, and Language Arts, July 22, 29, and August 5.
