Virtual Show for Shelters, May 2-16

For the 10th year, the Sudbury-Wayland-Lincoln Domestic Violence Roundtable will again hold the virtual Shower for Shelters from May 2 to 16. Drop-off locations are the libraries in Sudbury and Lincoln (the Wayland Library is currently closed).  Women leaving an abusive relationship arrive at shelters typically with no money, nowhere to live and only the clothes on their backs. They lack life’s basic necessities and often must also provide for their children. It is important the families in shelters realize they do have the care and support of the community because they are taking the steps to rebuild their lives free of abuse. Providing the items that women and children desperately need sends a powerful message of caring.  The list of items needed is available online. The Roundtable kindly requests that all items are new. For those who would rather make a monetary donation, gift certificates, phone cards or stamps are preferred.

Donations can be left at Goodnow Library, 21 Concord Road, Sudbury or Lincoln Library, 3 Bedford Road, Lincoln.  If you need more information call Marilyn Ellsworth at 978-443-5752 or Karen Cohen at 978-779-2226, or visit their Web site.  The Roundtable meets the second Tuesday of the month at 3pm at the Public Safety Building in Wayland. New members are always welcome.
