Wayland Town Crier 4/6/10: Capt. Richard Phillips to speak at Barnes & Noble in Framingham. Capt. Richard Phillips, the skipper of the U.S.-flagged cargo ship Maersk Alabama who offered himself as a hostage in return for the safety of his crew after his vessel was hijacked by Somali pirates last April, will be speaking at Barnes & Noble in Framingham on Wednesday, April 14 at 7pm Phillips is the brother of Janet Carmichael of Wayland. Phillips’ book, "A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy Seals, and Dangerous Days at Sea," tells the life-and-death drama of his five-day ordeal off the gun-plagued shores of East Africa.
